“What’s the meaning of life, in your view?” (Guess this is a passable question, if a bit out of the blue).

Masha: “To live every day to the fullest.”

But that’s not all. Sobchak compared Pussy Riot to AK-47 designer Mikhail Kalashnikov, who died a short while ago and said: “We can bravely say Pussy Riot is a global Russian brand.”

Nadya responded: “Talking about the ‘brand’ really isn’t interesting.”

Sobchak also bizarrely insisted it was “not fair” that Mashaw flew all the way to Krasnoyark in Siberia to see Nadya, and not the other way around.

Masha: “I just got on a plane and flew — it’s very simple”.

Sobchak then compared her two interviewees to Destiny’s Child, and asked Nadya if she wanted to go solo, saying that “No one remembers Destiny’s Child, but everyone knows Beyonce.”

Nady: “I don’t like empty words.”

Sobchack followed up by asking if the fact that the “pretty and thick-lipped” Nadya got more attention throughout their ordeal was an example of sexism.

“They chose the prettiest one,” Sobchack said. “Is that fair?”

Masha replied: “Asking provocative questions is totally unethical of you. When I was sitting in solitary in prison in Berezniki, I wasn’t thinking about beauty ratings.”

Sobchak then asked if the two were planning to disrupt the Russian Winter Olympics in 2014, to which they replied that even if they had a plan, they probably wouldn’t say so. Sobchack replied: “What are you scared of?”

Bizarre. Sobchak ended the interview by reading to the girls about Nietzsche. It’s probably worth nothing that Sobchak is the daughter of Vladimir Putin’s mentor.

Big up the girls.
