Well all know how hard it is to find love these days, so what better place for a young woman to source an eligible bachelor than in the prison she works at? They’re literally in endless supply!

Ruth Shmylo, 26, is currently standing trial over her relationship with Harri Pullen, 24, while working at HMP Parc in Bridgend, Wales. She’s accused of having phone sex with the inmate, a convicted drug dealer, and meeting his mum. Awww…

Hopeless romantic Ruth was quizzed by jail bosses over her “flirtatious” behaviour with more than one inmate, so she was clearly keeping her options over. She allegedly contacted one over Facebook and was seen on CCTV blowing a kiss to a prisoner. She was also accused of a relationship with a second unnamed inmate.

As per the Telegraph, Cardiff Crown Court heard how Ruth would choose not to wear prison-issue uniform and instead wore her own “skin-tight trousers” which “left very little to the imagination”.

“There is a large cohort of male prisoners and a young female officer or any officer wearing inappropriate clothing is something that we would challenge – especially trousers that are that fitted and leave very little to the imagination. There were other trousers available but she was not happy with how they fell on her body or how they looked.”

Ruth was sacked from her job at HMP Parc following “concerns” over her relationships with inmates, but even at her new job 200 miles away at HMP Manchester, she kept in touch with the inmate and carried on a 5-month affair which was rumbled after their phone sex sessions started being recorded (awkward).

Drug dealer Pullen referred to prison officer Ruth as his “Mrs”, and even arranged for her to meet his mum on the outside. Which you’d think would mean this was a true love story in the making, but unfortunately is completely illegal given the circumstances.

In the end, Ruth was arrested and made “several admissions” to the police. We’ll have to see how it plays out for her in court, but I think we can all agree that, whatever happens, it’s a sad, sad day for love.
