Did you really think Prince Harry was going to write a whole book dragging the Royal Family through the mud without also having a go at step mum Camilla Parker Bowles? Of course not.

In a passage from his forthcoming book ‘Spare’ that was shared ahead of its release next week, Harry recalls the time Camilla Parker Bowles (now the Queen Consort) converted his bedroom at Clarence House in London into her own personal dressing room as soon as he moved out. Oh the humanity!

“I tried not to care. But especially the first time I saw it, I cared.”

Elsewhere in the memoir, Harry describes how he and William begged their dad not to marry Camilla, with whom King Charles cheated on their mother for years.

“I remember wondering … if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the evil stepmothers in the stories.

William had been suspicious of the Other Woman for a long time, which confused and tormented him. When those suspicions were confirmed, he felt agonizing remorse for not having done or said anything before.”

Well that part seems fair enough really, but I’m not sure why Prince Harry would be too bothered about what happens to his old bedroom once he’s moved out of a house that he’s never going to live in again. I guess it just felt symbolic of her taking over his family home; not only sleeping in the bed his mum used to sleep in but now also storing her designer gear in the room Harry grew up in. I suppose that would be pretty irksome on some level but I’m not sure it’d make me mad enough to complain about it in my memoirs years later.

Still, it’s not all doom and gloom. Harry also writes about the time he lost his virginity to an older woman in a field behind a pub. Well in!
