Paedophile Who Pretended To Be A Mute Wheelchair User Is Jailed For 15 Years

A paedophile who had been rumbled came up with the perfect solution to avoid going to prison = pretending to be mute and wheelchair-bound.

John Siddell, 41, convinced psychiatrists he was unfit to go to trial by fabricating severe disabilities while being investigated over sexual offences against three young boys between 2018 and 2021.

In theory, it was genius! He’s mute so he can’t answer questions, and he can’t walk so you feel sorry for him and think that maybe prison isn’t the best place for him.

Aside from that, he pretended he was incapable of opening his eyes and unable to hold his own head up. He was basically cosplaying as the world’s most disabled man, which he might be, but not in the way he was aiming for.

Unfortunately for John, his social media, photos on his phone, and CCTV all exposed his act, including attending Elvis Presley nights at a social club, going to watch Newcastle United, pounding Guinness at the pub, and walking around unaided.

In the end, he was arrested, and hilariously continued the act while being bundled into a police van:

After John and his brother James were charged with perverting the course of justice, they failed to attend a plea hearing in July last year, and claimed John had suffered a seizure and was taken to hospital.

In September, he pleaded guilty to five counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, five counts of sexual assault, one count of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and four counts of causing or inciting a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Both brothers admitted perverting the course of justice.

Judge Keith Raynor described the brothers’ behaviour was ‘scheming and devious’.

He said: ‘They misrepresented John Siddell’s mental and physical abilities, the behaviour of both of them entirely corrupting and undermining the course of justice.’

Defending John Siddell, Jamie Adams said the paedophile is a ‘very vulnerable and disadvantaged human being’ who has been diagnosed with epilepsy, autism and learning disabilities.

In the end, John was sentenced to 15 years in prison. He did manage to delay proceedings for a while with his disabled act, though – gotta give him that.
