The Amber Heard/Jonny Depp trial has been a major source of news stories on Sick Chripse for the past couple of weeks – seems like everyone wants to know the details of what went on in their relationship behind closed doors – but I didn’t think that there would be an actual demand for merchandise based on it.

However, it looks as if I was completely wrong about this as a number of different merch items have popped up on the internet. On Redbubble.com there are hundreds of distinct items – some of them even have over 100 different reviews – and on CoolPopTees.com you can buy a ‘Justice for Johnny Depp’ t shirt fairly easily as well.

Perhaps the craziest item I’ve seen though is on Urban Dictionary, where you can buy an Amber Heard mug that describes her as an actress that can’t even act and is best known for divorcing Johnny Depp. Somehow that retails for £26 and has attracted 180 reviews, although it is unclear as to whether these people have actually bought the mug or are just leaving messages of support for Johnny Depp.

I think I say this every time I write one of these articles but it really does surprise me how hard people are backing Johnny Depp in this case and I feel like this really is the pinnacle of that movement. Yes, I understand that it sounds as if Heard was a major dickhead as well and pushed him to breaking point during their marriage, but it’s also been confirmed by a judge that he beat her up so it astonishes me that people are still out there buying mugs and t-shirts to support him.

I suppose they might be vindicated after the results of this defamation trial come in – although that’s not necessarily a given – but right now I’m pretty sure it isn’t a good look? Really weird vibe but I guess people just love Johnny Depp/are incels that hate women. A bit of both probably.

For more of the same, check out everything that’s been said in the trial so far. A lot going on.
