This disappearance of Madeleine McCann is one of the biggest mysteries of my lifetime, but it seems as if we might finally be coming to its conclusion after criminal Christian Brueckner was named as an official suspect last week by Porugeuse police so that the investigation could continue.

Brueckner has denied having anything to do with the case ever since he was first identified as someone that the police were investigating and he’s reiterated this in a five page letter that was sent to an unknown female but somehow picked up by The Daily Mail. Rueckner – who is currently serving time in a German prison for the rape of a 72 year old woman and is facing charges for the 2004 rape of an Irish woman and a sex assault on a 10 year old girl – said the following in the letter:

I am now the most known bad person in the world and did nothing – well almost nothing.

Perhaps I was a suspect after all they found out about me. Drug dealer, breaking into houses, living in cars and there was something with kids when I was 17.

But they had not even one proof (sic) that I was involved with the McCann case. And they still don’t have it.

I know why. Because they have no hairs or anything from Maddie what means (sic) that nobody can put anything like that into my stuff to find it.

The idea behind that all perhaps was to make the BKA (German police) and German prosecutor famous as well known all over the world as the smartest organisation ever.

There is no proof’ against me and the German authorities are leaking information to portray me in a poor light.

The truth is being manipulated in an unprofessional way so much so that it is making me laugh.

Yeah I reckon I’d like to think that the German cops had better things to do than leak information to make Brueckner look bad – surely he’s done that all by himself by being a convicted rapist anyway? – but I suppose the conspiracy theorists among us will argue that it makes sense for the authorities to pin the crime on a career criminal who clearly isn’t going to illicit any sympathy from the public, just to finally get some closure on it and make it look like they’re not completely incompetent. I’m not sure if that’s what’s happening, but I guess we’ll have to sit tight and see what actually goes down with Brueckner in the next few months. Wouldn’t surprise me if we never definitively found out what happened to poor Madeleine though.

For more of the same, check out this conspiracy thread about the case. Absolutely classic.
