One of Nicolas Cage’s craziest performances – and boy are there a lot of them – came in cult classic ‘Vampire’s Kiss’ so I’m sure we’re all eager to see what the guy can come up with when he’s playing the king of the vampires in upcoming movie ‘Renfield’.

The first trailer for the movie just dropped and sadly doesn’t focus on Cage anywhere near as much as we would like, instead centring the attention of the title character played by Nicholas Hoult. It seems as if Renfield as entered into some kind of deal with Dracula where he’s been granted superpowers, but this also means that he has to provide Dracula with regular victims and he’s getting kinda tired of the idea.

Take a look at the trailer and see what you think:

In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult (Mad Max: Fury Road, X-Men franchise) stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Oscar® winner Nicolas Cage).

Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness.

If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.

Yeah pretty much summed it up correctly there didn’t I? Hopefully we’ll see more of Cage in another trailer before the movie fully drops on April 14th, but I’ve got a feeling they might be drip feeding him to us so that we have to go and see the movie to see his trademark craziness. We all know what he’s capable of so why spunk it all in the trailer?

Probably didn’t even need to release the trailer to get people to go and see it to be honest. Nicolas Cage as Dracula is a licence to print money. Probably gonna be the biggest movie of the year.

For more of the same, check out this video of Nicolas Cage trying on his Superman suit for the unreleased Tim Burton project. What a film that would have been.
