In case you missed it, Disney has a Snow White remake coming out next year starring Rachel Zegler as Snow White and Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The script is written by Greta Gerwig, who just became the first female director to make a billion dollar movie with Barbie.

So it already sounds like a recipe for success, except Rachel Zegler may just annoy everyone into boycotting the movie because her press run has been insufferably annoying. Brace yourself:

Rachel Zegler is single-handedly destroying this movie.

How can the actress playing Snow White in 2024 actually hate the original so much? Snow White is Walt Disney’s masterpiece! His most treasured film! For Rachel Zegler to take this role and then denigrate the original is actually a bit sickening. In her mind though, she probably feels like she’s destroying the patriarchy or something.

Also, the implication that the original is “weird” or “creepy” is just plain wrong. Even by 1930s standards it was actually kinda tame? So I don’t know why she thinks it’s problematic to enjoy the original when it doesn’t even sound like she’s ever watched it. In any case it can’t be a good idea to alienate fans of the original, many of whom have kids now, can it?

Well, it will probably makes millions/billions anyway. Even still, I’m not sure that the marketing people will be happy that she’s talking like this in interviews. Judging by the reaction online, it’s a giant turnoff.
