Mum Accused Of Kidnapping Autistic Son’s 11-Year-Old Bully Until He Apologised

A Utah mother is accused of kidnapping her autistic son’s bully and keeping him at her home until he apologised, even threatening to have her husband beat him up.

Shannon Marie Tufuga, 40, allegedly tracked down and abducted an 11-year-old boy she believed was bullying her son, who is on the autism spectrum.

Tufuga reportedly drove around the neighbourhood looking for the boy. When she found him riding his bike, she stopped her car in front of him and forced him into the vehicle without his parents’ knowledge.

She took the boy to her home and held him there until he apologised to her son. She told the boy he was “lucky” she didn’t run over his bike and added that if he bullied her son again, her husband would beat him up.

Although she returned the boy home in the end, court documents state he suffered “serious emotional distress” and now deals with high anxiety that has significantly altered his daily routines.

Tufuga has now been charged with child kidnapping and aggravated child abuse.

Tufuga’s lawyer has denied the allegations, suggesting they stem from a “troubled child” and are inaccurate. Tufuga herself has claimed the boy had a history of bullying other children.

Now obviously you can’t go around kidnapping 11-year-olds and threatening to beat them up because they bullied your autistic child, even if it’s something that would definitely cross your mind if your kid was being bullied. With how prevalent bullying is nowadays and how parents of the abuser do nothing about it and schools act like it doesn’t exist, maybe this mum felt she had no choice but to take matters into her own hands.

Unfortunately there don’t seem to be too many other options than directly confronting your kid’s bully yourself. However there’s quite a gap between confronting the kid and his parents vs bundling him into your car and keeping him captive in your home for a few hours.

So this lady will probably get in a load of trouble, but on the plus side… that lad probably won’t bully her child again? Unless he adds “your mum’s in jail” to his repertoire. That would suck.
