A McDonald’s security guard has been sacked after footage showed him soaking the sleeping bag of a homeless man. Which is especially f***ed up considering how freezing it is in London right now.

The video was taken in Victoria Street in central London on Saturday night:

Disgraceful stuff from that security guard. Why would anyone do such a thing to a fellow human, especially at this time of year? I know McDonald’s don’t like it when homeless people set up camp outside their stores, but he wasn’t even on their premises! In fact, this happened outside a Nationwide bank, which is even more ironic, especially with that sign that reads ‘A good day to bank’…

How depressing. McDonald’s UK replied after being tagged in the footage on X:

‘Thank you for bringing this to our attention. It is not one of our employees but a third-party security guard. We are shocked and saddened by this incident.’

‘The third party security guards involved have been permanently removed from our restaurants and the restaurant team has been reminded of the importance of treating all people with respect, including vulnerable people both in the restaurant and within the wider community.’

‘We would like to wholeheartedly apologise to the gentleman in the video and will work with the council to locate him and make amends as part of our ongoing work to support homelessness charities in and around the area.’

Will be interesting to see how they make it up to him. Maybe they’ll sort him out with some accommodation over Christmas, with unlimited McDonald’s? That would be a sweet result.
