A criminal found guilty of supplying illegal streaming devices (ISDs) providing unauthorised access to Premier League content has been ordered to pay back almost £1 million to the public purse

As much as we love football, there’s just no defending the Premier League here. We all know how expensive it is to watch every game legally, with BT Sport, Sky Sports, Amazon and other platforms all hosting specific games from different leagues and competitions. It costs a bloody fortune if you want to follow it all.
Coventry resident Steven King helped solve that problem by creating Dreambox, which provided football fans with illegal streams to Premier League football games. The system operated under the names Dreambox, Dreambox TV Limited, and Digital Switchover Limited via websites at dreamboxtv.co.uk and yourfootie.com, and was used in more than 1,000 pubs, clubs and homes throughout England and Wales.
Of course, Dreambox solved another problem that plagues football fans – that it’s illegal for any channel in the UK to broadcast any game that airs at 3pm UK time, under the theory that it stops people from attending lower division games in person. Want to watch a Premier League game at 3pm but can’t get a ticket? Too bad. Sky literally airs a show called ‘Soccer Saturday’ where reporters at the stadiums talk about what’s happening, but they aren’t allowed to show any footage from the games themselves. How insane is that?
Well anyway, at Warwick Crown Court this week, King was ordered to pay back £963,000 from the proceeds he made with Dreambox. If he doesn’t pay up within three months, his seven year jail sentence will be extended by an additional six years and eight months. Seems harsh but the Premier League is clearly making a serious effort to clamp down on illegal streaming. You have been warned, I guess. Free Steven King!
