Korean YouTuber Who Was Targeted By Racist Gesture At World Cup Has Been Invited To Mexico By FIFA

FIFA has officially invited South Korean YouTuber Yoon Su-jin AKA InoCat to attend South Korea’s World Cup group stage match against Mexico in Guadalajara, to make up for her being racially abused on her livestream last week.

While filming herself celebrating South Korea’s 2-1 win over the Czech Republic, a Mexican guy behind her pulled off the classic slanted-eye gesture that most people haven’t seen/done since primary school.

Probably a bad idea when the girl who’s streaming has 6.6 million followers on YouTube and 2.3 million on TikTok…

This wasn’t just some random loser either; he was later identified as Ulises Fernando Bernal Miramontes, the president of a prominent Mexican engineering guild. This guy is somebody in Mexico!

Well he ended up paying for his stupidity because following huge social media backlash from both South Korean and Mexican social media users, Miramontes was forced to issue a public apology and was then sacked to boot.

He’s also had his World Cup ticketing account permanently blocked by FIFA – gutted, pal!

Meanwhile, InoCat went viral and has now also been invited to South Korea v Mexico by FIFA. So it’s W’s all round for her.

Because the match falls on June 18, the UN International Day for Countering Hate Speech, FIFA announced it will partner with InoCat at the stadium to broadcast a global message of inclusion, unity, and respect. Go InoCat Go!
