The world is still vexed with Kano AKA Sully after what he did at the end of season 2 of Top Boy, but that doesn’t mean we’re not looking forward to the grime legend’s next TV project.

According to Complex, Kano is set to star in fellow Brit Daniel Kaluuya’s upcoming Netflix flick ‘The Kitchen’. Kaluuya has co-written the drama alongside Joe Murtagh, while Michael Fassbender is also on the team as an executive producer. The show is set in London in the year 2044, and will follow the story of Izi (played by Kano) and 12-year-old Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman) as they “battle to survive in a system that is stacked against them”.

A synopsis for the drama reads:

The Kitchen is set in London, 2044, a future where the gap between rich and poor has been stretched to its limits. All forms of social housing have been eradicated and London’s working classes have been forced to live in temporary accommodation on the outskirts of the city. The Kitchen is the first and the largest of its kind—its London’s last village harbouring residents that refuse to move on and move out of the place they call home. It’s here we meet Izi, a resident of the kitchen, who is desperately trying to find a way out and 12-year-old Benji, who has lost his mother and is searching for a family.”

The “dystopian drama” is currently in production and is set to drop on Netflix in 2023, which is probably before we can expect Season 3 of Top Boy also. It seems Kano AKA Kane Robinson is really racking up the plaudits as an actor with every role he plays, and it was always only a matter of time before he landed something truly huge and started adding awards next to his name. Could ‘The Kitchen’ be that gig? The guy is absolute class on screen so let’s hope so.

For the time The Guardian accidentally used a photo of Kano instead of Wiley in their article about racism, click HERE. Whoops.
