You might have heard that Johnny Depp was going back to court again in the wake of the Amber Heard trial after he was accused of assaulting the location manager on the movie ‘City Of Lies’, but it turns out that it’s not going to be anywhere near as big a deal after it was announced that a settlement had been reached.

Gregg ‘Rocky’ Brooks was suing Depp after he claimed that Depp punched him twice in the ribs for no reason whilst filming the movie back in 2017 and then offered him $100,000 for Brooks to punch him in the face. Depp has always said that Brooks was provoking others on set and that his actions were in self defence. Brooks also stated he was eventually fired from the film because of the incident and was humiliated by Depp and that he created an unsafe and toxic work environment with his drinking and temper.

Whatever you think of Depp, that all sounds believable given the evidence of his behaviour that came out on both sides during his trial with Heard. So it’s not that surprising that a Los Angeles Superior Court filing by Brooks’ lawyer Arbella Azizian has revealed that a settelement has been made – although no details have been made public.

The document reads as follows:

The settlement agreement conditions dismissal of this matter on the satisfactory completion of specified terms that are not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement.

Dismissal After Settlement is scheduled for 02/16/2023.

That’s not really that useful is it and I’m not a lawyer so I’m not 100% sure what it means, but I think we can all probably agree that it’s a good idea for Depp to pay off this guy and not go through the stress of another trial where more details of his problematic personal life might be revealed. In the long run nobody is even going to remember this happened and only that he beat Amber Heard, so it’s probably worth giving this guy a million dollars or whatever to avoid any hiccups in his rehabilitation into public life. Good move.
