When it comes to Roulette, many players stick to bet types they know, or even just place a wager on their favourite number.

With this in mind, we wanted to explore all the bet types you can place when trying to predict where the ball will land next within the pocketed compartments of the iconic Roulette wheel.

So, if you’re ready for a refresher on bets you can place even within a live casino game of Roulette, carry on reading.

Inside Bets

First of all, we’re going to take a look at inside bets. In a game of Roulette, there are several inside bets you can place. These are located in the inner area of the betting layout, and they offer higher payout odds compared to outside bets, but they are also harder to try your chances at winning. Here are all the inside bets you can make in Roulette:

  • Straight Bet: Betting on a single number by placing the chip directly on that number’s square on the layout. The payout for a straight bet is typically 35 to 1.
  • Split Bet: Betting on two adjacent numbers by placing the chip on the line between them. You win if the ball lands on either of the two numbers. The payout for a split bet is usually 17 to 1.
  • Street Bet: Betting on three numbers in a horizontal row by placing the chip on the edge of that row. This bet covers all three numbers, and the payout is typically 11 to 1.
  • Corner Bet (or Square Bet): Betting on four numbers that form a square by placing the chip at the intersection of those numbers. The payout for a corner bet is usually 8 to 1.
  • Double Street Bet (or Six-Line Bet): Betting on six numbers by placing the chip at the intersection of two horizontal rows. This bet covers both rows and pays out at 5 to 1.
  • Basket Bet (available in American Roulette): Betting on the numbers 0, 00, 1, 2, and 3 by placing the chip on the corner shared by 0 and 1 or 00 and 3. The payout for the basket bet is 6 to 1.

Outside Bets

In Roulette, there are also several outside bets you can place. These bets are located on the outer area of the betting layout, and they offer lower payout odds compared to inside bets, but they also have a higher probability of winning. Here are all the outside bets you can make in Roulette:

  • Red/Black: Betting on the colour of the winning number. You can place your bet on either all the red numbers or all the black numbers. The payout for a winning red or black bet is typically 1 to 1.
  • Even/Odd: Betting on whether the winning number will be even or odd. The payout for a winning even or odd bet is usually 1 to 1.
  • High/Low: Betting on whether the winning number will be in the high range (19 to 36) or the low range (1 to 18). The payout for a winning high or low bet is typically 1 to 1.
  • Dozens Bet: Betting on one of three groups of 12 numbers each. You can place your bet on the first dozen (1-12), the second dozen (13-24), or the third dozen (25-36). The payout for a winning dozens bet is usually 2 to 1.
  • Columns Bet: Betting on one of the three vertical columns of 12 numbers each. The columns are usually labelled on the layout. The payout for a winning column bet is typically 2 to 1.

Will your next bet placed on the Roulette table be an inside or outside bet?
