37-year-old Jamie Vardy is the only player still at Leicester from their 2014 Championship win and has really been with the club through it all and seen absolutely everything, so what better way for Leicester to win the Championship again ten years on than by having the man himself smash the ball into the net to secure a comfortable 3-0 win at Preston last night:

Just a hilariously unnecessary finish from Jamie Vardy there. He basically had a tap-in but decided to smash the ball with maximum power instead to really put an exclamation mark on the moment. Yeah OK you could ask what the hell Preston’s defence were doing in that moment, but I guess there’s a reason they’re the only side in the top 10 of the table with a negative goal difference.

That makes it 18 goals for Jamie Vardy this season as he helps Leicester secure promotion into the Premier League for the second time in his career. Talk about a club legend! There were some rumours going around that he was planning on hanging up his boots at the end of the season, which would have been a fantastic way to go out by first ensuring his club are back in the top flight. However, Vardy pretty much squashed those rumours after the game by insisting he still feels “fresh” and has plenty left in the tank.

No doubt Jamie Vardy will have a statue erected in his honour outside the King Power Stadium when he does eventually decide to call it a day. Take him to Euros, Gareth!
