You have to be seriously dumb to rob anyone in Dubai, let alone brag about it on a rap song afterwards. Well that’s exactly what popular west London rapper Fredo did, and it now seems his indiscretions have finally caught up to him.

Fredo, real name is Marvin Bailey, was this week sentenced to 5 years in a Dubai prison. Amazingly, the sentence has nothing to do with him robbing people in Dubai, but rather, he was caught in possession of cannabis. Which is another thing only a complete dunce would do in Dubai.

The most tragic part is how much cannabis Fredo was caught with… 3.5 grams! Imagine going to jail for five years for 3.5 grams of cannabis. Only in Dubai, which Fredo would have known, but still decided to risk it like he thought he was in Spain or something.

Still, 5 years for drugs possession seems quite a lenient sentence for Dubai so maybe he should count himself lucky. It’s possible they took into account that he has a young daughter back home in London. Is Dubai prison even that bad? They could have a Harrods and Selfridges in there for all we know.

As mentioned, Fredo has form for criminal behaviour in Dubai, having apparently robbed a Canadian ‘king pin’s’ $1 million chain in the country. He and his buddies also rob watches in Dubai, which he boasted about on his track ‘I’m Back’ last year:

What a badman. No doubt Fredo will come up with loads more cool rhymes during his prison stint in Dubai about how he ran the whole jail and everyone was afraid of him. Although he is looking to appeal his sentence as soon as possible, so good luck to him on that.

Here he is during happier times:
