‘Stranger Things’ fever might be dying down slightly after everyone watched the finale a couple of weeks ago, but Finn Wolfhard is determined to cash in on its popularity by announcing that he’s writing and directing his own horror movie.

That might be a bit of a harsh way of putting it to be fair to the guy considering none of the other kids seem to be doing anything at all, but I doubt he would be getting hired for the job if he didn’t happen to be Mike from ‘Stranger Things’. Not saying his movie won’t be good or anything, just that there’s definitely some degree of nepotism involved here as your regular unknown 19 year old writer director probably wouldn’t be given the same opportunity.

Finn does at least have some previous experience, as this isn’t his directorial debut and his previous short ‘Night Shifts’ was accepted into the Fantasia Film Festival, winning the Silver Audience Award for best Canadian short. Sounds like  definitely he’s got some chops.

Anyway, the movie is called ‘Hell Of A Summer’ and will be a horror comedy. Wolfhard’s ‘Ghostbusters: After Life’ co-star Billy Byrk is also working alongside Finn on the feature and ‘White Lotus’ and ‘Pam And Tommy’ star Fred Hechinger is set to appear in it too.

Here’s what Finn had to say about the project:

I am so excited to be co-directing my first feature film.

I get the chance to work with an incredible cast and crew, and to work with a company like 30West and Aggregate is a real dream.

Not giving away too much there hey Finn?

‘Hell Of A Summer’ is set to start shooting in Ontario this summer, so we should hopefully get to check it out next summer. I’m looking forward to seeing what the kid can do.

For more of the same, check out when a 27 year old model came onto Finn even though he was just 14. Bit creepy.
