Dom Joly Barred From The US After Criticising Donald Trump

Trigger Happy TV legend Dom Joly claims he has been barred from entering the United States after his ESTA application was rejected.

An ESTA typically allows British citizens to enter the US without a formal visa – always you’ve been chatting sh1t about President Trump on the internet or eleswhere, of course.

Over the last few years, Dom Joly has said the following about Trump:

– Called him a “lying sex offender,” a “dangerous megalomaniac,” and a “narcissistic man” who has “admitted to assaulting women”.

– Tweeted “We are doomed…” alongside the hashtag #trump.

– Compared Trump to a “Doner Trump” kebab.

– Mentioned he was “globally famous for 48 hours because Trump RTd me calling him a fascist.”

– Said that “Trump is a troll and thus he is a magnet for other trolls”.

Exactly the type of thing that would trigger (pun not intended but intended) Trump into oblivion. Joly suggested these comments were the reason his ESTA was rejected, and highlights the increased scrutiny of digital footprints by the US under Trump.

The comedian said during an interview on Times Radio: “I don’t hold back on Trump or his ilk, but it is very odd.”

He also said he’s aware of other individuals who have encountered similar issues when attempting to enter the US in recent months.

So much for the US being the ‘land of the free’ eh? They’re always having a go at the UK for stifling free speech, but now Trump wants to know all about your social media history before allowing you to visit the States in case you’ve been saying mean things about him. Isn’t this the exact sort of thing he claimed he would be fighting against when he was still campaigning for the Presidency?

Oh well, I guess Joly will just have to apply for a formal visa now, which will probably be rejected and all.

For those of us who aren’t famous critics of the President, might be a good idea to delete your social media history and/or get a burner phone when travelling.
