Djed Spence Refused To Shake Thomas Partey’s Hand Before England v Ghana
England/Spurs defender Djed Spence refused to shake hands with Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey prior to their World Cup game last night, and was the only England player to do so.
It’s probably less to do with the fact with Partey is a former Arsenal man, and more to do with the rape charges he is facing…

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty, eh?
The FA and FIFA and even Arsenal and Partey’s latest club Villareal have all caught flak for allowing Partey to continue to participate in football games while he has 7 rape charges pending involving allegations from four women.
Just a week ago, Partey was denied entry into Canada for failing to disclose his ongoing criminal proceedings on his application. It meant he missed Ghana’s win over Panama in Toronto. However, he was cleared to enter the U.S. for the match against England, so I guess Trump takes a lighter view on this sort of thing?
As for Spence refusing to shake his hand, that’s his prerogative, but the Spurs man does have a reputation for being a bit of a poser and sh1t-stirrer so I’m not sure if this was done purely out of integrity or to take any kind of stance. No doubt the Spurs/Arsenal rivalry made it an even more appealing idea to him too.
After all, would Spence refuse to shake hands with Ronaldo, Hakimi and Kaishu Sano? We may yet find out.
