Couple Arrested After Climbing To Top Of The Empire State Building, Hanging A Peace Sign, Then Getting Engaged
A masked couple climbed 1,400ft up to the top of the Empire State Building antennae, hung up a peace sign and then got engaged… before being arrested for their efforts.
Their banner said: ‘When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace.’

Unreal work from the Fox News camera team there, and well done to this couple for obtaining an unbelievably badass video of themselves getting engaged at the top of the Empire State Building. I’m not sure what happens to them from here, but it might actually turn out to be worth the trouble, all things considered…

If I had one criticism, it would be the text on their banner of peace. Isn’t that the font/colour scheme that ISIS like to use? Probably not the wisest choice, especially when you’re planting it atop the Empire State Building.
Regardless, this has to be up there with one of the greatest proposals of all time. Imagine getting engaged on top of the most iconic building in America while overlooking all of NYC, while a news helicopter films the whole thing and sends you viral worldwide. Sure beats having your man get down on one knee at the park bench, doesn’t it?

Unfortunately for the couple – experienced free-climbers Ivan ‘Vanya’ Beerkus and Angela Nikolau (above) – it seems they’ll be spending the start of their engagement in jail. Which isn’t ideal, but better than falling off the top of the Empire State Building mid-proposal, which you have to think was also a possible outcome.
Again – not sure what consequences these two will face, but at the end of the day they didn’t hurt anyone and in fact put out a message of peace for the world to see. Peace everywhere forever is a guarantee now!
Best of luck to the happy couple.
