The last thing you want on your CV as someone working in the entertainment industry is ‘vocal anti-vaxxer’, as former Coronation Street star Sean Ward has come to find.

The 33-year-old, who starred as Callum Logan in the ITV soap, has revealed that his anti-vaxx views have left him homeless because producers no longer want to hire him for work. Which is pretty gutting because this guy is basically the Mancunian Daniel Day-Lewis!

In September 2021, Sean was arrested during an anti-vaccination protest in Canary Wharf, London, and was pictured being escorted away by police. However, he’s been unable to find work for the last 2 years, leaving him struggling to pay rent. Sean detailed his situation in an Instagram post this week:

Firstly the work dried up. No one would hire me whether in front of or behind the camera, all my usual ways of making money just stopped, eventually I couldn’t afford the rent.

So I gave up my 4 bed house and move onto my friend’s couch. I had to put all my belongings into storage. After a while I couldn’t afford to pay the storage bill and after about 4 weeks of missing the payments – equating to about £500 – Safe store UK sold all belongings. My sofa, my bed frame, my office equipment, desk, chair, wardrobes, mirrors, all my coats and clothes and my projector.

Everything to fill a family house. My whole life was in that storage unit. I lost it all. I was devastated but I couldn’t ask anyone for help because it was my choice to speak out.

The actor revealed that he has been sleeping on a mattress in a friend’s spare room for more than a year, and doesn’t have to pay rent. Sean also shared that he wasn’t able to keep his car, dubbed his ‘beautiful Jenny’, due to the running costs and it was seized by the DVLA for having no tax.

Was it all worth it though?

Was it all worth it? Yes! If I’ve saved one life then yes.

Hmm. If you say so mate. Making £100k a year on Coronation Street sounds a lot sweeter than what he’s got going on now IMO. He was even nominated for villain of the year at the British Soap Awards once. He starred alongside Michelle Keegan in Our Girl!

In any case, fair play to Sean for standing by what he believes in, even if most people say he’s been horribly misinformed. I guess he’ll just have to get a normal job like the rest of us for now.
