I thought it was kind of strange that the Backstreet Boys were playing a gig at the O2 arena in London last night after the news came through that Nick Carter’s little brother Aaron had sadly passed away from drowning in his bath tub on Saturday, but the boy band did stop the show for an emotional tribute to the troubled singer.

Vocalist Kevin Richardson delivered the following speech whilst Nick Carter could be seen crying in the background before being consoled by his other bandmates:

Tonight, we’ve got a little bit of heavy hearts.

Because we lost one of our family members yesterday.

We just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognise him.

Nick’s little brother, Aaron Carter, passed away yesterday, and he’s a part of our family and we thank you guys for all the love, all your well-wishes, and all your support.

Geez that’s pretty emotional isn’t it, although I’m not sure the Backstreet Boys can really be that cut up about all of this as I’m pretty sure that they backed Nick Carter to the hilt after Aaron accused him of bullying when they were growing up and raping a bunch of women as well. There seemed to be a problematic relations between the two of them and clearly Aaron Carter wasn’t doing that great, but it seemed like Nick had just straight up cut him out instead of trying to resolve their differences.

Still, that kind of stuff does happen in families and you do always think that things will eventually get resolved with the passing of time and aren’t really ever going to be ready for someone to die with so much left unsaid, so you do have to feel for Nick Carter here. A major tragedy. RIP Lil Aaron Carter.

For more of the same, check out when Kevin accused Brian from the Backstreet Boys of being a QAnon conspiracy theorist. Looks like they’ve made up now I guess?
