Korean Actor’s Career Destroyed After Someone Used AI To Make Him Look Like A Paedophile

Crazy story out of South Korea as big time actor Kim Soo-hyun (Queen of Tears, My Love From The Star) has had his career ruined by fake AI images of him being a nonce.

YouTuber Kim Se-ui, who has a channel named Hoverlab, is accused of using AI and manipulated screenshots to falsely frame the actor for dating late actress Kim Sae-ron while she was underage.

Kim Soo-hyun, 38, did actually date Kim Sae-ron, but he was 31-32 at the time and she was 19-20. Which is still a little noncey, but definitely not illegal or something that should necessarily be used to wreck the guy’s career.

The couple broke up in 2020, but this YouTuber fabricated evidence in late 2025, which included manipulated chat logs and an AI-generated audio, to make out that Soo-hyun had dated Sae-ron while she was underage.

This month, South Korean police concluded that the YouTuber had concocted the evidence themselves, intentionally publishing AI-fabricated images and audio and false rumors for financial gain.

In the meantime though, Soo-Hyun lost major advertising contracts, including lucrative deals with brands like Prada and Dinto. His Disney+ series Knock-Off was indefinitely postponed, and he was forced to step away from the public eye and undergo psychiatric treatment.

Amazingly, the YouTuber even managed to convince Kim Sae-ron’s family that Soo-hyun had dated her while she was underage. They even sent him screenshots from their late daughter’s phone, but he manipulated those as well in order to falsely frame Soo-Hyun.

Because the family publicly supported the YouTuber’s claims, the public initially believed the allegations were undeniably true. This prompted Kim Soo-hyun to lawyer up and file a 12 billion won ($8.7 million, £5.8 million) defamation lawsuit against both the YouTuber and the family’s legal representation.

An arrest warrant has now been issued for Kim Se-eui on defamation and other AI-related charges. Even if he has been found out, it’s simply terrifying to think that this Korean superstar had his life ruined and career destroyed before the truth came out. He literally lost out on millions! Which I guess explains why he’s suing this dodgy YouTuber for 12 billion won.

Of course, Kim Sae-ron isn’t around to give her side of the story, as she tragically took her own life aged 24 in February 2025 after being severely cyberbullied.

Here’s hoping this YouTuber is made an example of because this is definitely not what we need people using AI for in the future. How does he live with himself, seriously? Absolute sociopath behaviour.
