Reform UK Says All Schools Will Be Ordered To Fly Union Flag And Display Portrait Of King
Huge news for flag sh@ggers – Reform UK have announced that schools will be required to display portraits of the King and fly the Union Flag if the party comes into power.
Alongside the Union Jack, schools would need to display the Cross of St George in England, the Saltire in Scotland and the Red Dragon in Wales.
There will also be the introduction of “patriotic” history lessons.
The idea is to restore national pride in Britain, with Nigel Farage’s party claiming this would all be done within 100 days of Reform coming into power.
Reform’s would-be education secretary, Suella Braverman, said: “Tory and Labour governments have failed a generation of young people with a substandard curriculum that undermines academic rigour and national identity in favour of promoting their mass migration agenda.
“Reform will end this.
“As Education Secretary I will introduce a new curriculum that will rekindle national pride and ensure that every child leaves school with an understanding of what a privilege it is to be British.”.
I’m not sure about all this tbh. Surely the best way to make people feel patriotic and proud of their country is to have a country where the economy is doing well, and where things work and are affordable, and young people are able to get into careers they want without needing to go tens of thousands into debt?
Making people feel patriotic by forcing them to stare at a flag and a portrait of the King? That’s the sort of thing that appeals to the dumbest people in society. Not to mention – it’s the sort of thing they do in North Korea!
You get your display of patriotism, and then what? As a wise man once said – you can’t eat a flag. Reform are going to have to come up with something a little better than that if they actually want to stand a chance in 2029.
