Man Who Confronted Al Jazeera Journalists After Golders Green Attack Is A Met Police Officer

The man who was filmed aggressively confronting Al Jazeera journalists following an arson attack on Jewish ambulances in Golders Green, north London, has been identified as Metropolitan Police special constable David Soffer.

Big up to Declassified UK for their detective work on this one…

Soffer was part of a group of residents who surrounded the news crew last Monday while they were reporting on the burning of four Hatzola ambulances.

Footage shows Soffer telling the crew to “go home” and “go back to Qatar”. He was also recorded calling a Palestinian journalist a “dog” and a “donkey” in Arabic and Hebrew.

Not exactly the sort of behaviour you expect want from a Met Police officer, is it?

Once his identity began doing the rounds, Soffer pooped his pants and removed references to his police work from his LinkedIn profile. Well obviously that didn’t save him and now he’s been fully exposed, with even the BBC reporting on it.

The Metropolitan Police confirmed an off-duty officer was involved and has referred the matter to the Department of Professional Standards for assessment. I wouldn’t be surprised if he avoids punishment, to be honest.
