Deaf Woman Removed From Frontier Flight For ‘Not Listening’

A woman claims she was removed from a Frontier Airlines flight because she is deaf and could not hear the flight attendant’s instructions.

The young lady named Ashley alleges she was kicked off the flight for “not listening,” which to be fair, is pretty hard to do when you’re deaf and all…

The video shows other passengers and even a gate agent attempting to stand up for her, explaining to the flight crew that she’s deaf and not intentionally ignoring their instructions.

In the end, they kicked her off the plane, and she claims that airline staffers were apologetic to her at the gate when rebooking her on another flight.

Big, fat compensation claim coming up? Well, maybe not. According to a statement issued by Frontier Airlines, they claim Ashley brought an open container of alcohol onboard and drank it. They also dispute that Ashley is deaf! WTF?

A Frontier rep told the NY Post: “According to the flight attendant directly involved in the matter, the passenger boarded with an open container which she admitted contained alcohol when questioned.

“When the flight attendant informed the passenger of the violation, the passenger rapidly consumed the remaining alcohol before handing it over.

“The flight crew made the decision to remove the customer from the aircraft and she was rebooked on a later flight.

“There was no indication on the passenger’s reservation that she is deaf or has any form of disability and, according to various personnel who interacted with the passenger, she was clearly and effectively conversing with them during interactions.”

Well, well. That is a plot twist indeed. However, if you look at Ashley’s TikTok page (@legallyswiftie13), she does have an old video titled “How I found out I’m going deaf in my 20s,” in which she tells the story of how she was told during a ear cleaning procedure that she was losing her hearing.

So it sounds like maybe she’s not completely deaf (yet), but deaf enough to not hear the flight attendant’s instructions? Will be interesting to see what comes of this as Ashley insists she was discriminated against and there seem to be a load of people backing her up.

Did the flight attendant properly communicate the instruction that the passenger could not bring the cup on the plane (i.e. both verbally and visually)? I guess lawyers will have to review the tapes and speak to witnesses to determine that for sure. Or Frontier could send Ashley a nice big settlement so that it doesn’t drag on any further. We’ll have to see what happens.
