Shia LaBeouf Opens Up About Mardis Gras Fight Arrest, Says He Got ‘Scared’ When Three Gay Dudes Touched His Leg

Shia LaBeouf has spoken out about the Mardis Gras fight that led to his arrest in New Orleans a couple weeks back.

The actor, 39, claims he was standing by himself when three gay men started touching his leg, which made him get scared:

Shia says: “Big gay people are scary to me. When I’m standing by myself and three gay dudes are next to me touching my leg – I get scared. I’m sorry. If that’s homophobic, then I’m that. That’s why I got arrested.”

“I don’t think I have a drinking problem. I think I have a small man complex. Some kind of Napoleonic… I don’t know what it is. Something that has to do with anger and ego, moreso than my drinking.”

Well, fair play to the guy – at least he’s self-aware and sees it as something he needs work on. I’m pretty sure going out and getting hammered doesn’t help, though. Not to mention this is a guy who has (allegedly) been abusive to ex-girlfriends and goes around starting fights all the time.

Here’s the footage of him getting beaten up at Mardis Gras:

Police reports state LaBeouf became “increasingly aggressive” after being asked to leave the bar for causing a disturbance. I guess the disturbance was his reaction to having three gay dudes supposedly touch his leg?

He also allegedly struck a staff member and later punched a second man in the nose, and was yelling homophobic slurs the whole time.

One alleged victim, Jeffrey “Damnit” Klein, claims LaBeouf targeted him because he was wearing makeup and eyeliner, and is seeking to have the charges upgraded to a hate crime.

As it stands, LaBeouf is facing three counts of simple battery, and has also been ordered to enroll in substance abuse treatment. Probably a good shout.
