Mum-Of-Five Who Falsely Accused Good Samaritan Of Rape After He Gave Her A Lift Home Has Been Jailed
A mum-of-five who falsely accused a Good Samaritan of rape after he gave her a lift home when he found her drunk, crying and barefoot in the street has been jailed for two years.
Rachael Jones, 38, was returning home from a drunken night out with her buddies when she was kicked out of a taxi for rowing with the driver.
Innocent dad-to-be Salim Ullah was passing by in his car when he saw Jones distressed in the street.
He offered her a lift home, but when he turned down her request for a hug, she falsely claimed she had been lured into a car and gang-raped by Ullah and two other Pakistani men in a lay-by for 45 minutes.

Ullah, 33, was traced through his number plate and arrested at his Stoke-on-Trent home in front of his sister.
He was then held in a police cell for 30 hours and had to undergo intrusive exams, and remained a suspect for four days before police concluded no rape had taken place.
Fortunately, Ullah had filmed his encounter with Jones on his phone and provided the footage to police to help exonerate him. What would have happened if he didn’t have the foresight to film their interaction? The guy could be in jail right now with his entire life ruined!
Jones eventually had no choice but to confess that she made the whole thing up.
Admitting her lies, she told officers: ”I got myself in such a stupid state. I said things I should never have said. I am a silly woman. I am disgusting. I am sorry. I am so sorry.”

Sentencing her to two years, Judge Steven Everett told Jones: ”Mr Ullah behaved in an exemplary fashion and did what many people would not have done and went to your aid.
“Sadly the reason why many other people would not have gone to the aid of a lone woman distressed in the middle of the road without shoes, is due to what happened to him as a result of his act of charity.
”There will be many people who will say ‘I am not doing that just in case a serious allegation is made’.
“Your behaviour has consequences for people genuinely in need and you were doing a disservice to those victims who have been genuinely attacked, assaulted and sexually assaulted and are left on the side of the road and are maybe left there because people who drive by say ‘I am not taking the risk’.”
In his victim impact statement, Ullah said: ‘My wife was six months pregnant at the time and this allegation brought a lot of stress to us.
‘I should have been fully there for my wife – however, we were worried about what would happen at the end of the case.
‘I was worried that I might not be there for the birth of the baby and I just feel lucky I recorded the incident.
‘I believe I was targeted due to my ethnicity.’

He’s probably right about that, to be fair. I just don’t understand what kind of person could make up a false rape allegation against someone who only had good intentions to try and help them. What did she have to gain from this?
As the judge said, stories like this make genuine victims less likely to speak out/be believed and make genuinely decent blokes less likely to assist a woman in need.
Now, you could film the whole thing just to be safe, like Mr. Ullah did. But even then he had to spend 30 hours in a cell, was gossiped about by his neighbours, and had to endure the stress of it all.
Next time he probably won’t bother, and you can’t blame the guy at all.
