Comedian Ben Bankas Reacts To Having 6 Sold-Out Shows Canceled After Video of Him Mocking Renee Good Went Viral
A comedian named Ben Bankas has had six sold-out shows cancelled after footage of him mocking Renee Good for being killed by ICE went viral.
Bankas made the joke during a show in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., several days after Good, a mum of three, was fatally shot by an ICE agent on January 7.
Among the gags: “Now for a moment of silence for Renee Good. Really hope that dog’s OK … and her pet” (in reference to Good’s wife).
“Her last name was Good. That’s what I said after they shot her in the face.”
Bankas goes on to call Good a “dumb, r****ded lesbian” who “deserved to die” and “should have been shot 10 minutes before.”
And so, Banakas is now being “cancelled” and has had six sold-out shows pulled at the Laugh Camp Comedy Club in St. Paul, Minnesota. He’son Instagram saying “f*** the Laugh Camp Comedy Club” and arguing that those angry about his set “need to get educated about what comedy is.”
On Facebook, he stated he was upset that he could not perform for “normal” and “good” people in Minnesota.

Now obviously this whole drama will only enhance his profile and help him in the long run, but is he really surprised by the reaction? I mean, if you’re going to crack jokes about Renee Good days after she was killed, at least make sure they’re funny. That’s the only way you can really get away with cracking an offensive/racist/sexist/phobic joke as a comedian.
Then again, maybe he thought he was in the clear in 2026. After all, cancelling comedians is so 2018! I guess one way to accomplish it in this day and age is to say an innocent women deserved to be shot to death just days after it happened.
