A Spanish influencer couple are being mocked online after blaming ChatGPT for making them miss their dream trip to Puerto Rico.
Instead of doing some Googling or looking at actual government websites, the couple asked ChatGPT if they would need to fill in any particular paperwork to visit the Caribbean island from Spain.
ChatGPT said ‘no’, which was the wrong answer, and resulted in the couple missing their flight. Cue tears at the airport:

The girl, Mery Caldass, tells her followers that she will never trust ChatGPT again: “Look, I always do a lot of research, but I asked ChatGPT, and it said no. I don’t trust that son of a b***h anymore.”
She also suspects that ChatGPT may have taken ‘revenge’ on her because she insults it sometimes: “I don’t trust that one anymore because sometimes I insult him, I call him a b*****d, you’re useless… that’s his revenge.” I’m not sure she realises that ChatGPT isn’t a sentient being with feelings that can plot revenge on a person? Well, at least not yet anyway.
Naturally, the internet is completely unsympathetic, instead blasting the couple for being irresponsible and putting their dream holiday in the hands of a chatbot. I mean, it really doesn’t get more 2025 than that.
The funny part is, ChatGPT wasn’t even technically wrong. Mery had asked the chatbot specifically if she and her boyfriend needed a visa to visit Puerto Rico. Turns out you don’t need a visa if you are coming from the EU, but you do need to fill out an ESTA form, which is official US travel paperwork. So it’s basically the couple’s fault for asking the wrong question. What a pair of idiots!
Well anyway, hopefully they’re not actual travel influencers because this should tank their following, if so. Very poor form.
