Very disappointing news as British actor Michael Ward AKA Jamie in Top Boy has been charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault.
The Metropolitan Police announced the charges on Friday, which relate to one woman and are alleged to have taken place in January 2023.
Ward, 27, is set to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on August 28.
Scott Ware, the Met detective leading the investigation, said: “Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward – we know investigations of this nature can have significant impact on those who make reports.”
Ward has been dropped by UK agency Olivia Bell Management, and you have to think it’s goodbye to his career. I know he hasn’t been convicted yet, but there has to be some pretty solid evidence for him to have been charged. Not great for a guy who received BAFTA’s EE Rising Star Award in 2020. He had such a promising career ahead of him after his incredibly solid work in Top Boy.
So yeah, a big shame to see what could have been a potentially great career ruined by something so horrible. Let’s hope the victim has a great support network around her and that if Ward is found guilty, that the punishment fits the crime.
Never forget:
