It’s nice to see a Love Island star actually make a real impact on society instead of trying to sell pyramid schemes and sh1tty fake tan lotions online, so fair play to Season 3’s Georgia Harrison on being awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) recently.

Harrison, 30, who has also appeared on The Only Way Is Essex, took a horrible experience and turned it into campaign against violence on women and girls.

It came after her ex-boyfriend, reality TV d1ckhead Stephen Bear, secretly filmed the two of them having sex together without her consent, and then shared the video on his OnlyFans page, as well as sending it to mutual friends of theirs.

Stephen Bear served 10 and a half months of a 21-month sentence after being found guilty of voyeurism and of two counts of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress.

Meanwhile, Harrison campaigned online and in the streets, working with charities and holding demonstrations outside parliament calling for specific protections for women and girls to be included in the Online Safety Bill.

Harrison says she’s re-read the MBE letter “three times” as she can’t believe it:

“Honestly, I’m completely blown away to be receiving an MBE – it’s one of my proudest achievements and something I didn’t expect to be coming through the letter box this summer.

“It means the world to have this kind of recognition, not just for me, but for all the survivors who’ve been through what I have.

“Speaking out after what happened wasn’t easy, but I knew it was important.

“I’ll never stop fighting for what’s right and I’ll always step up when and where I think I can make a positive difference for others.”

Harrison even discussed and provided input for the Online Safety Bill in Downing Street meetings with former technology secretary Michelle Donelan as it returned to the Commons for its final stages.

She also put out a documentary on ITV earlier this year titled Georgia Harrison: Porn, Power, Profit.

And so, the MBE is well-deserved. Georgia Harrison could have easily hidden herself away and had fun spending the £200,000 (!) that Bear was ordered to pay her in damages, but she decided to make a difference in society instead.

What a great use of her platform and what a way to turn lemons into lemonade. Fair play, Georgia Harrison. Fair play indeed!
