There’s usually one Netflix TV show that everyone is binging at the same time – think ‘Squid Game’, ‘Stranger Things’ or more recently ‘Wednesday’ – and there’s normally no better time for this than over Christmas because everyone is just sitting around eating food and not wanting to speak with their families.

That’s exactly how ‘Making A Murderer’ and ‘You’ became such massive hits all those years ago and how Netflix hopes that ‘Treason’ will pan out this Christmas. The new TV series tells the story of an assassination attempt on the head of MI6, played by Ciaran Hinds (‘Belfast’) and stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil) Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace) and Oona Chaplin (‘Taboo’) in a game of secret service and political turmoil.

Take a look at the trailer below and see what you think:

When the past catches up with the newly appointed head of MI6, in the form of a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life.

A triangular relationship forms between Kara, Adam and his wife, Maddy, three people who are trying to expose each other’s secrets, navigate political and diplomatic relationships, whilst hanging onto their personal lives, and those they love most.

Well I gotta say that looked a lot better than I thought it would, but it still has that sort of BBC feel about it akin to slightly above average shows like ‘Killing Eve’ and ‘Line Of Duty’. Of course, they’re some of the most popular shows in recent years so maybe Netflix are doing the right thing by dropping ‘Treason’ in that timeslot. We’ll see come Boxing Day I guess.

And what about Charlie Cox hey? Guy sure can do some accents can’t he?

For more of the same, check out Quentin Tarantino’s plans for an eight episode TV series next year. Possibly on Netflix.
