If you’re doing illegal things with your car, it’s probably a good idea to keep it in good shape. Otherwise you might end up like this Coventry drug dealer who was caught with £420,000 worth of cocaine after breaking down on the motorway.

Darcy Holder-Smith’s car had broken down on the M56 near Runcorn in Cheshire on 4 March and after stopping to speak to him, police became suspicious of his behaviour and searched the vehicle.

As per Sky News, officers found 10 compressed blocks of cocaine, three mobile phones and a quantity of cash in the black BMW 3 series, which was probably a bit of a clue in itself as one of the more common drug dealer cars driven around the UK.

An expert estimated the drugs had a street resale value of between £360,000 and £420,000.

The 22-year-old from Coventry pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply and was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison last Friday. Following Holder-Smith’s sentencing, Detective Constable Ian Prashar said:

“I welcome the outcome of this case which has resulted in the recovery of a large quantity of class A drugs and the person responsible is now facing a significant prison sentence. I hope this result sends out a strong warning to other offenders, the message is clear, if you come to Cheshire to commit crime, you will be caught and you will be brought to justice.”

Well I don’t know that it sends out that strong a message TBF, seeing as he only got caught because he broke down on the motorway and was acting nervous as hell when police drove by. In fact the only message it sends out is that you should get your car serviced, especially if you’re riding around with £420k worth of cocaine on you. Although maybe my man didn’t want to pay those 189.9 petrol prices? Can’t say I blame him to be honest.
