High school student Jacob Staudenmaier became one of the most annoying people on the Internet when he released a “prom-posal” video asking Emma Stone to accompany him to prom.

Super keen Jacob recreated the opening scene from La La Land with help from about 20 people:

Unfortunately for Jacob, Emma Stone had about a billion better things to do. Although she did let him down gently:

Jacob, thanks for making the greatest proposal I have ever received. I can’t tell you what an honor that was and how much I smiled through that entire beautifully orchestrated video. I’m in London working, but I hope you have the best time at prom, and I’m grateful you thought of me.
