40-year-old Briton Devinder Kainth is accused of killing a suspected paedophile, 43-year-old Sandro Rottman from Germany, with a single punch after he apparently caught the guy filming his young daughter with an iPad in a restaurant in Spain.

According to witnesses Devinder approached Sandro, took his iPad from him and upon seeing the images, delivered a single punch that ended up killing the man:

The discussion apparently began because of alleged recording that the victim was making of the aggressor’s daughter. When he (the aggressor) saw what was happening he took the tablet off him, saw the recordings, threw the device to the ground and attacked him.

The victim had been arrested by the civil guard a few days prior for possession of child pornography.

Not sure how this guy was free to roam around recording young kids only days after being arrested for possession of child pornography, but I suppose there’s one extra free bed in Spanish prison now. The restaurant owner says that Rottman was filming several people, not just Dev’s daughter (he might just be trying to style his restaurant as a paedo-free zone though), but others in the area have come forward to say that Rottman has a bad reputation locally and was banned from several bars.

It’s a controversial case in that many might suggest that Rottman got what he deserved, but murder is murder at the end of the day — and perhaps it would have been a better idea to subdue him and let the courts dish out his punishment. Not that Devinder meant to kill him, but such was the force of the blow from a dad who reacted in a way that many who have young children might sympathise with.

Kainth is currently being held at maximum-security Botafuegos Prison in Algeciras while the Foreign Office investigates the attack.
