Well, it’s finally happening. It may feel like it’s about 20 years too late (given how fast they predicted this technology would arrive back in the day), but the world’s first flying car has officially been cleared for take off.

As per USA Today, Alef Aeronautics revealed its flying car “Model A” was granted legal permission from the Federal Aviation Administration to test run the vehicle on the road and in the sky. The “Model A” is 100% electric, drivable on public roads and has vertical takeoff and landing capabilities, though at present, it won’t go faster than 25mph on a paved surface. If you need a faster route, that’s where its aerial function come into play.

California-based Alef Aeronautics also announced that the car is now available for pre-order at the cheap price of $300,000 (around £236,000), with delivery currently slated for 2025. So not exactly what you’d call an ‘affordable car’, but still cheaper than most Lamborghinis. Plus, isn’t it comforting to know that the super rich will be test-driving/flying these things before the rest of us? Could be some spectacular air accidents on the horizon, not to mention lawsuits. What can you say really? The future really is (almost) here.

For the driver hit with a £30 fine after a bout of diarrhea forced him to abandon his car, click HERE. Very unfair.
