4) Blind Faith – Blind Faith (1969)

OK, so this one is a bit dodgy. Blind Faith featured Traffic’s Steve Winwood, Family’s Ric Grech, Cream’s Eric Clapton and mental legend Ginger Baker. It was one of the first super-groups but they may have gone a bit far putting a prepubescent topless girl holding a phallic plane on their cover. The record company started getting nervous and bunged out this rash of banality instead:

5) Bon Jovi – Slippery When Wet (1986)

This cover wasn’t banned as such, but just rejected by the record company I think. The iconic cover below was their second choice. The album cemented Bon Jovi’s rock star status and you have to wonder how many more they would have sold if they’d run with the first image?

6) David Bowie – Diamond Dogs (1974)

Here’s David Bowie, half man, half dog. Compare the above and below fold out art work and you might thing “hang on there’s no difference?” Well you’d be wrong. In the second image, the tiny portion of wang that was showing has been removed. Apparently it upset people? Despite them probably being dog owners and seeing their dog’s doo-dah every day when they rubbed its belly. I mean? Come on people?
