I’m pretty sure that everyone here will have seen ‘Titanic’ as it’s one of the biggest moments of all time and whilst I’m aware that it’s a movie, I never really thought about how unrealistic the whole thing was compared to what actually happened at the time.

Thankfully, a combination of people on Twitter and TikTok have joined forces today to inform me of just how horrific the actual sinking of the Titanic was in real life because I’ve actually been brainwashed by that movie into thinking it was simply a fun swashbuckling adventure. This isn’t the case at all.

Firstly, one person decided to tell us all that the power failed just before it started sinking so the whole ordeal took place in the pitch black with just the sounds of screaming and twisting metal keeping everyone company. Then, someone decided to make a TikTok of it all to show us what it was actually like and let me tell you, that’s not really what I needed at 10:30 am on a Tuesday morning:

That’s so grim isn’t it? Obviously I never thought that it was a great experience, but the movie with its bright lights and action set pieces where some of the good guys get out and survive doesn’t really make you appreciate how cold, dark and scary the actually reality would have been. Horrific.

Someone else later in the thread also said that there were sharks in the water that ate some of the people who were floating around in it and that some people literally went insane whilst waiting in their lifeboats to be rescued from drinking salt water that had leaked oil in it from the boat. Not sure how true that is but Jesus Christ hey! It just gets worse and worse.

Also found out from that thread they’re making a horror video game about the Titanic which sounds like it could be awesome if they do it right. Stay tuned.

For more of the same, check out this really embarrassing alternate ending to the ‘Titanic’ movie. Honestly.
