The Trailer For New Horror Movie ‘Backrooms’ Looks Terrifying
The trailer for the directorial debut of 20-year-old YouTuber Kane Parson has dropped, and it’s getting a ton of hype.
The concept is from a 4chan ‘creepypasta’ about a series of infinite rooms that anyone can glitch and be trapped into. It sounds pretty basic, but became a massively successful YouTube series in 2022 where the first episode racked up 73 million views. Which resulted in A24 turning the concept into the most highly-anticipated horror of 2026…

Have to say – I’m intrigued. I like how they didn’t include any type of monster or major scare in there because it would be great if that could remain a complete surprise until the movie actually drops. Although it does make me want to learn a bit more about the Backrooms lore after watching that trailer…

Apparently a frame from the trailer recreates the original 4Chan image, which must be pretty awesome for all the Redditors out there…
I am screaming over the fact that they have recreated the original Backrooms image!!! This is the most insane nod to fans and the origin ever. pic.twitter.com/ksxlj1WXrV

Pretty nuts that a 20-year-old is going to make a better movie that anything else Hollywood puts out this year. Except maybe for The Odyssey. That does look awesome too.
Backrooms arrives May 29 2026.
