The manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori, creater of Cyborg 009 and Himitsu Sentai Gorenger, was so inspired by the island that he built some manga cat style buildings on the island.
Inside the huts you can rent fishing rods and bikes and enjoy some of his art. Apparently there are some places to bunk down for the night too if you fancy it.
The statue below was created by students of Tokyo University of Arts in 2010. It’s made up of lots of little cats. Nice.
