I remember I saw ‘Superbad’ at home one day a long time ago and I was really stoked to see it because pretty much everyone in the world had said that it was one of the funniest movies of all time. Sadly, though I found it really underwhelming and didn’t think it was funny at all. So it goes.

Anyway, it turns out that I was completely wrong (first time for everything), as ‘Superbad’ has officially been announced as the funniest film of all time – at least according to science. Or some variation of science at least.

The analysis was completed by ‘experts’ at OnBuy Movies, who decided to look at the top 125 movies listed as comedy on IMDb.com and see how many of the reviews of the movies that were six stars or above contained a word that was synonymous with the word ‘funny’. Apparently that’s what science is defined as now – sounds about as good as climate change or the vaccine to me though. Am I right?

Anyway, ‘Superbad’ came in at number one with 250 mentions of the word ‘funny’ in the reviews. ‘Deadpool’ came in at a close second with 233 mentions of the word ‘funny’, whilst ‘Back To The Future’ only had 147 mentions of the word. However, not really sure I would say that that is a classic comedy, would you? You know it’s a better movie than both ‘Superbad’ and ‘Deadpool’ though. Not even a competition.

As for ‘Superbad’, maybe I should watch it again? Not really sure if I’m buying this OnBuy Movies method of deciding the funniest movies though. Seems kinda budget to me and not something that any regular scientist would use to figure out the result. Can’t we get AI to tell us? Seems like it would be a lot easier.

For more of the same, check out when a British man changed his name to McLovin to honour a dead friend. Heartwarming stuff.
