Add Sam Smith to the growing list of celebrities that have contracted coronavirus – or so he says – having waited until now to let us all know that he caught the disease and recovered from it already (despite not being tested).

In an interview with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, Smith says he caught the bug while in the UK and chose to stay in and self-isolate until he recovered:

I didn’t get tested but I know I had it. 100 percent had it. Everything I’ve read completely pointed to that. So yeah, I think I definitely had it.

You think you definitely had it? OK…

As everyone was kind of really on lockdown, that’s when I got over it, luckily.

How he coped during the illness:

The first two weeks, I just wanted to sing. I don’t want to sing my songs, I don’t want to sing and film it. I just want to walk around the house and sing.

Riiight, OK. I mean it’s not like Sam Smith would ever say he had coronavirus just for the attention or to feel special, is it? It’s not like he would ever be jealous of all the headlines coronavirus was stealing from him, right? Especially with a new album coming out later this year which he’s already had to push back due to Covid-19.

Is it possible Sam Smith really did have coronavirus? Sure. But he really should have got himself tested just to make sure. I mean what if he had moronovirus instead? That might explain the ’emotional’ photos of him bawling his eyes out on the steps of his lockdown mansion while the rest of us quarantine in our shitty little apartments. As soon as that story died out – suddenly Sam Smith is a coronavirus survivor and not only that, he was walking around the house singing the whole time despite the disease wreaking havoc on the lungs. What a warrior.

It was only the other day Sam Smith was talking about his love of his poppers as well. As long as they’re having a good time eh?
