Oscar-winning ‘Parasite’ writer-director Bong Joon-Ho has teamed up with Robert Pattinson for his latest offering coming in 2024 – a curious-looking sci-fi film titled Mickey 17. I guess they decided to skip Mickeys 1 – 16? Here’s a synopsis:

The story follows an Expendable named Mickey: a disposable employee sent to colonize the ice world Niflheim. Whenever there’s a mission that’s too dangerous, the crew turns to Mickey. After one iteration dies, a new body is regenerated with most of his memories intact.

Sounds like some kind of Blade Runner/Moon/Edge of Tomorrow combo, and given Joon-Ho’s penchant for pulling off insane twists, we’re looking at a complex, mind-bending classic with another unique and unpredictable Pattinson performance. Given Warner Bros are releasing the teaser trailer 15 months before the film is actually released, they must be pretty confident that this is going to be a film for the ages. The rest of the cast looks pretty good too:

If Pattinson has proved anything in recent years it’s that he’s one of the finest actors of this generation, and Joon-Ho is getting similar plaudits as a director. Looking forward to this one dropping in March 2024.
