Nursing Home Worker Fired After Pleasuring Elderly Dementia Patient

Wild story out of Cheshire today as a nursing home worker has been sacked, convicted and placed on the sex offenders register after she ‘pleasured’ a vulnerable 77-year-old dementia patient at Winsford Grange Care Home.

Donna Gillet, 43, sexually assaulted the 77-year-old while giving him a bath and made ‘inappropriate comments’ about his size.

A horrified junior colleague witnessed the incident, reporting that Gillet asked the resident if he “liked women with big bums” and allowed him to touch her after he responded affirmatively.

Gillet pleaded guilty to “engaging in sexual activity with a mentally disordered male” at Chester Crown Court. She received a three-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, and was ordered to complete 200 hours of unpaid work.

She was also made to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for seven years and was banned from working with children and vulnerable adults for the rest of her life.

Prosecutor Philip Clemo has said: “[The victim] had dementia and Parkinson’s as well as a host of other health issues and required 2 on 1 care. He was immobile and lacked capacity. That day the defendant and a colleague Ellie Morrin were assigned to clean the man and put him in his pyjamas.

“The defendant was vastly more experienced having done the job for about seven ears whereas Ms Morrin had been doing it only a matter of months. When he was placed on the bed and put on his side it was clear he had an erection and the defendant made a seemingly light-hearted comment about him having ‘a big one’.”

“The defendant then got some dry wipes and placed them on the patient’s penis and started to clean it in a motion that Ms Morrin immediately recognised as masturbatory. The defendant made a comment along the lines of ‘I knew that would work’ and repeated it when Ms Morrin questioned that.

“She asked the man if he liked women with big bums and he said ‘yeah’. He then went to touch the defendant’s breasts but she said that he couldn’t do that. She said he could only touch her bum but not her breasts. She then allowed him to continue tapping her bum and when they left the room she made a comment about having just been ‘groped’.”

Now from the sounds of it, this 77-year-old man was not an unwilling ‘participant’ in the incident, but obviously you cannot go around t0ssing off elderly dementia patients in nursing homes, especially if you work there. It’s just gross and inappropriate and undignified for everybody involved.

Also – not being funny – but would he even have remembered it 30 minutes? Not sure if that makes it more or less f—ed up tbh.

Fortunately, it all went down in the presence of a junior colleague who had enough sense to report what happened. Give that girl a promotion!

For what it’s worth, Winsford Grange Care Home which has been rated “inadequate” by the Care Quality Commission.
