Nine People Have Been Injured In A Shooting Near England’s World Cup Camp In Missouri
World Cup fever has well and truly kicked off as America welcomes the world with a traditional display of its culture and traditions: a mass shooting near the England squad’s camp in Missouri.
Nine adults sustained non-life-threatening injuries in a shooting on Troost Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri, approximately four miles from Swope Soccer Village, the designated base for the England national team.
Gunfire broke out in the early hours of the morning outside what was reported to be an after-hours club.
The Kansas City Police Department arrived to find a large crowd dispersing and later confirmed that no suspects were immediately taken into custody.

As for the injured parties, three women were initially taken to hospital via ambulances while six other adults self-reported to medical centres for treatment.
And to think – all that fuss that was kicked up over Qatar hosting the World Cup last time, only to then host it in a place like America which is the absolute pits right now.
The World Cup, now more than ever, should be about bringing the world together. Instead the tournament will take place amidst a war in Iran, random mass shootings, visa issues, travel restrictions, and uncertainty over whether fans and players from certain countries will even be able to attend.
The maddest part? The tournament hasn’t even started yet.

The England team will play a final warm-up friendly against Costa Rica in Orlando this Wednesday, June 10, before travelling to Kansas City to occupy their base camp on Saturday.
Their World Cup group stage opener against Croatia is scheduled for June 17. Let’s just all try to enjoy it eh? Come on England!
