When there’s an unhinged lunatic running around on the streets and knocking people out at random, the only thing better than the police turning up to stop him is having an MMA fighter happen to stroll past at the right moment and batter him instead.

Ro Malabanan, who has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu and a yellow belt in judo, was walking to his boxing instructor job on Wednesday when he saw Samuel Frazier sucker-punch a construction worker, the fighter told The Post.

Malabanan, 44, ran after the suspect and took him down from behind, later explaining on IG:

“My jiu-jitsu instincts just kicked in. I jumped on his back. He tried to swing me off then — but for those of you in the know — a seatbelt position dragged him down to the floor, and I immediately took his back and pinned him to the ground.”

What a guy. Ro Malabanan is basically Batman – a highly-skilled, highly-trained, under-the-radar badass who shows up at the right place at the right time to save the day and dish out justice. You want to run around NYC sucker punching random people for no reason? Not on Ro’s watch. He’ll chase you down, jump on your back, put you in the seat belt move, and then sit on you until the police get there. Hopefully this will serve as some kind of deterrent to anyone else in the area who was planning on going on a punching spree, but if you know NYC, it probably won’t.

Bonus video – how everyday citizens are dealing with moped thieves over in Brazil (warning – very graphic footage):
