Metallica are undoubtedly one of the biggest metal bands in history, so I imagine if you’re a massive metalhead then there wouldn’t be too much of a better way to welcome your newborn child into the world than at one of their concerts as the band played their biggest hit ‘Enter Sandman’.

This unbelievable set of events actually transpired to happen to Brazilian tattoo artist Joice M Figueiró over in Curitiba, who had purchased tickets to the bands South American tour over two years ago as it had been repeatedly delayed due to the pandemic. Even though she was 39 weeks pregnant, she wasn’t going to miss the show and decided to attend and sit in a special handicapped area of the crowd.

She began to feel contractions towards the end of the set and was taken to the venue’s medical room – there was no time to take her to hospital though and she ended up giving birth at the stadium. Here’s what Joice had to say about the experience:

I was in the handicap area.

And I was sitting down in a safe spot, without any risks of getting hurt.

The contractions started almost immediately as Metallica took the stage, but I held out until three songs before the end.

Then it was a blur. It all happened so fast.

It was a mix of emotions.

Since it wasn’t planned, I was scared that the medical team wouldn’t be ready.

But there’s also the feeling of being able to tell people that this happened because Metallica is one of the bands we love the most.

I joked that his name would be James Ulrich.

But really, since this name question has brought up great appeal and we haven’t registered him, we’re thinking of maybe adding a [middle] name and putting some homage in there.

Sandman is out of the question though.

Remember, this is the name he’ll carry throughout his whole life.

He’ll get bullied with the name ‘Sandman.’ He already has enough of a story to tell.

The baby ended up being christened Luan Figueiró and has already achieved worldwide notoriety after being featured on Metallica’s Instagram story. Hopefully the story of his birth will give young Luan the fuel to ride the lightning and bring justice for all in the future. Rock on (sorry).

For more of the same, check out Miley Cyrus covering Metallica’s ‘No Leaf Clover’ with Elton John. It’s actually 10/10 awesome.
