Earlier today we blogged about how 16-year-old Luke Littler met his 21-year-old girlfriend playing FIFA on Xbox, and the article was met with comments accusing Eloise Milburn of exhibiting borderline nonce behaviour and going after Littler’s money.

Well one person who’s having none of the criticism is Eloise’s mum Amanda Milburn, 56, who has now hit back at jibes about the couple’s age gap and the claims that his daughter is a gold-digger.

Claiming “Eloise has been accused of all sorts”, mum Amanda denied her daughter was only with Luke for his money and fame and branded the comments a “total pack of disgusting lies”. She told MailOnline:

“There’s been a lot of horrible stuff being posted online about my daughter and my husband Phil and I are very angry about it. She’s not with him for any of these reasons. She doesn’t care about his money or his fame, she’s with him because she likes him. It’s as simple as that.

“It’s really hurtful when we read these comments, many of them from so-called darts fans. My daughter is none of these things that these vile people are making out. She’s a lovely young girl who is in a new relationship and people should allow them to get on with things.”

Fair enough, I say. After all, Luke & Eloise have been dating for six weeks, which, while a very short time, is still longer than Luke Littler has been famous for. So either Eloise Milburn is unbelievable at scouting 16-year-old future darts millionaires and champions or she genuinely hit if off with a barely legal lad 5 years younger than her on Xbox and fell in love with him good and proper.

Also in Eloise’s defence, she’s a darts fanatic and an amateur player for the Walton Working Men’s Club, while also representing the Surrey Women’s darts side. So that’s fairly huge common ground there.

Listen, as long as Luke Littler is happy, we’re happy. And he could end up very happy later tonight as he takes on Luke Humphries at the World Darts Championship final tonight. Should be an absolute spectacle whatever happens. Go Luke Go!
